Educational Director


Lew has volunteered at 5B2F for 7 years and 3 years as Educational Director at Lillie’s Quest Camp. He has worked as a counselor to our youth and designs our Educational programs. He has arranged our Teen Ambassador program for teens 13-18 years of age. He is also shaping an internship program through Aurora University for interns to complete college program hours working with our children through the Social Work Program at Aurora University.


As a Substance Abuse Director at the Wells Center, Lew comes to us with over 30 years of Criminal Justice experience and 10 years working in the counseling field. His experience and background have provided him with diverse opportunities for both group and one-on-one interaction with juveniles, adults (both male and female) families, communities, with criminal and substance abuse problems. Dave has served in many capacities advocating on the behalf of clients, and he has achieved positive outcomes for the success of them overcoming great obstacles.


As the Supply Director at a medium security juvenile correctional facility (Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice – IDJJ), Dave supervised the operation of the General, Mechanical, Officer Clothing, Kitchen, Surplus, and Commissary Stores, as well as the Mailroom. He managed a team of professional Supply Supervisors I and II, an Account Technician I and an Office Associate. As a Youth Supervisor, he was responsible for the security and custody of youths.


Lew’s education includes a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Aurora University and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He is now a retiree of more than 30 years working at Illinois Depart of Corrections and Juvenile Justice at I.Y.C. St. Charles.


Following his retirement, Lew worked as Interim Addictions Education Manager at the DuPage County Jail for the Male and Female Addiction Recovery PODS. 


Lew has established leadership skills through his law enforcement and counseling experiences with a passion towards helping others.
